Grammy award-winning jazz pianist Don Grusin will perform at a free event Saturday on the University of Colorado campus.
Grusin, a regular guest at CU's Conference on World Affairs, will perform on the grand piano as part of a presentation that begins at 7 p.m. in the ATLAS building, Room 100.
His presentation also will include discussing a world music video course he is teaching this semester at CU. The goal of the course, which is offered through the ATLAS Center for Arts, Media and Performance, is to help students produce videos that can promote social change and global awareness.
Grusin will feature portions of his students' projects. Information about his course and the projects is available at http://campatlas.wetpaint.com.
Grusin, who now is based in Los Angeles, received a master's degree in economics from CU. He toured with Quincy Jones in the mid-1970s and has recorded and produced dozens of albums, including the Grammy-winning "Musician" for Ernie Watts. Grusin received the CU Alumni Association's George Norlin Award for distinguished lifetime achievement in 2006.
Seating for the event is limited.
